WEB SITE SET UP - THE FIRST STEPS
The first steps require some initial decisions, including choosing your domain name (Web Address), how much disk space will be required for the web site hosting on the hosts' servers and if you want a corresponding email address. Next, you need to decide if you want to do business on-line, accepting credit cards and setting up the shipping of your product(s). I have enabled the following links below to allow you to look at your choices in depth:
Domain Registration – This process is the actual choosing of a domain name (mybusiness.com), ascertaining if it is available and then registering and protecting the name. Domain names are $9.99 annually (discounted if registered for multiple years) and allows discounting if you choose more than one type (e.g. . mybusiness.COM, mybusiness.NET & mybusiness.BIZ).
Hosting & Email (Click to see hosting costs) - Buying and maintaining your own server(s) to host your website, email, blog and e-commerce pages can be a large initial investment in equipment and bandwidth. Therefore, most small companies utilize a third party to host their web site and email. I use GoDaddy, because their pricing is very reasonable and their service has proven to be reliable. I have also found their customer service to be responsive, if required. The decisions for hosting and mailbox(es) are mainly about disk space availability on their servers (The larger and more numerous the web pages, the more disk space is needed.) number of email addresses (How many email addresses will your new company need for the first year or so?) and the size of the email mail boxes (Once again, this is about disk size; more addresses and longer storage on the servers require more disk space.) Costs can range from $90 to $200 annually (discounted for paying multiple years up front).
E-Commerce Features (Click to see E-commerce costs) – If you want to utilize your website for selling directly to your customers on-line (as opposed to having them call into your business to place an order) as well as an informational site, it needs to be enabled to conduct credit card transactions and utilize alternative payment methods (e.g. Paypal, the current industry leader in secure payments and fund transfers). E-commerce may require more disk space for product catalogue pages and a secure landing page for safe credit card transactions (called SSL pages which are encrypted). These additional features can add an additional $10 to $40 a month (discounted for multiple year packages) to your website cost.
Web Site Design & Publishing – We will discuss these options and I will assist in you making your decision(s). You can always make adjustments, larger or smaller once we have operational information and you have an actual history of your site's impact and response in your chosen economic sector. Once you have made your choices, I will set up your site, enabling the features and services you have decided to utilize for your business(es). In conjunction with your input, I will design a custom four-page (Basic Package) website for you. Once we agree on the design, I will publish it to the internet (put it on the web hosting servers) and set up the email mail service (me@ mybusiness.com) if you wish to enable e-mail. Larger web sites (more than four pages) will incur additional costs. If you wish for me to maintain your site and refresh information on your pages (and product catalogue), you will incur a monthly service charge.

Basic Web Site - (1 to 4 Pages) with email - One time charge - $499.
Intermediate Web Site - (5 t0 10 Pages) with email- One time charge - $749.
Advanced Web site Package - (5 to 20 pages) with email and e-commerce - One time charge - $999.
On-going maintenance, updating web pages and email addresses and e-commerce catalogue pages incur a monthly fee. The fee varies depending on web site size and frequency of maintenance. Monthly fees start at $24.95 with a one-year agreement.
